The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in major risk transformation program at WorkCover Queensland. You will lead the ongoing evolution of our enterprise risk frameworks while playing a key role in the design and implementation of a new enterprise risk system. Working at both a strategic and operational level, you will strengthen risk capability, improve reporting and insights, and ensure risk practices support informed business decision-making.

Over the next 12 months, the team has a significant program of work and change delivery. Success in this role will rely on your ability to build strong relationships, partner effectively with senior stakeholders and influence outcomes across a complex operating environment. Working closely with business leaders, you will navigate competing priorities, drive alignment and help embed practical risk solutions that create enterprise-wide value.

About You

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced risk professional who enjoys working in a complex, highly regulated environment and can build strong relationships to achieve enterprise-wide outcomes. You are known for your ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels, particularly when navigating competing priorities, driving change and achieving alignment across the organisation. Combining strategic thinking with a practical, outcomes-focused approach, you bring strong business partnering capability, sound judgement and a proven ability to deliver results through collaboration, persuasion and influence.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven experience leading the design, implementation or enhancement of enterprise risk frameworks, systems and governance practices.
• Demonstrated success delivering large-scale change initiatives and transformation programs within complex organisations.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a track record of building credibility and successfully navigating challenging stakeholder environments.
• Strong business partnering capability and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve enterprise-wide outcomes.
• Experience working within government, a statutory authority or another highly regulated and complex operating environment.
• The ability to translate complex risk concepts into practical, business-focused advice, solutions and insights.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience assessing incidents, identifying emerging risks and supporting effective decision-making.
• Experience developing high-quality reporting, insights and recommendations for senior leaders, executives or governance committees.
