The Opportunity

The Quality Engineering Lead is a senior technical leadership role responsible for setting direction, standards and assurance approach for Quality Engineering across WorkCover Queensland.  

The role provides enterprise-wide Quality Engineering expertise and works closely with Platform Lead, Technical Leads, vendors and implementation partners to embed consistent Quality Engineering practices across technology delivery activities. The Quality Engineering Lead supports the delivery of reliable, secure, accessible and fit for purpose technology outcomes by promoting quality throughout the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle.  

The role champions modern Quality Engineering practices including test automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery, performance engineering, quality analytics, test strategy and continuous testing to support high-quality technology outcomes. 

About You

• 10+ years’ experience in software engineering, testing, quality engineering or related disciplines  

• Extensive experience in Quality Engineering strategy, test architecture and assurance for complex enterprise applications, integrations, digital platforms and vendor delivered solutions  

• Advanced knowledge and experience with Agile delivery methodologies and modern software delivery practices  

• Strong hands-on knowledge of test automation frameworks and approaches, CI/CD integration and quality gates, API, integration and data driven testing and non-functional testing, including performance, security, reliability, accessibility and operational resilience  

• Experience in implementing Quality Engineering frameworks across enterprise environments including cloud, SaaS and hybrid technology platforms  

• Ability to assess quality risks and articulate trade-offs between speed, coverage, cost, confidence and operational impact  

• Experience shaping and assuring vendor testing approaches in multi supplier environments  

• Demonstrated capability in coaching, mentoring and developing technical capability in others without direct people management responsibility  

• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, facilitation and executive-level reporting skills  

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic direction and practical delivery outcomes  

• Ability to build and maintain strong cross functional partnerships across business and technology teams  

• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences  

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple initiatives
