WorkCover Queensland is entering an exciting new chapter, guided by a renewed strategic focus and strong executive leadership shaping our 2030 Strategy. We’re embarking on an enterprise-wide transformation to strengthen our impact and continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex physical and psychological injury, rehabilitation and return-to-work matters while influencing broader recovery outcomes across the organisation. You'll manage end-to-end claims and RTW processes, prepare and coordinate high-quality employer responses for complex psychosocial and workers' compensation matters, and apply legislative requirements to support timely, compliant decision-making. Working within critical response timeframes, you'll conduct thorough information gathering, lead case conferences, and partner with leaders, insurers, providers and treating practitioners to achieve safe, sustainable return-to-work outcomes. You'll also proactively identify and address recovery barriers and stakeholder concerns before they escalate into broader employee relations or complaint matters.

While the core focus of the role is complex claims and rehabilitation management, you'll also play a key role in strengthening organisational capability and improving recovery outcomes more broadly. Working closely with Safety, People and business stakeholders, you'll provide specialist advice, coach leaders on injury management, psychosocial risk and reasonable adjustments, analyse claims data and emerging trends, and support governance activities, audits and control reviews that strengthen injury management practices. Through early intervention initiatives and evidence-based recommendations, you'll help shape preventative strategies that enhance employee recovery experiences and reduce future risk.

About You

You are an experienced rehabilitation, injury management or return-to-work specialist with a strong understanding of workers' compensation legislation and employer obligations. You bring proven experience managing complex and sensitive claims, including psychological injury matters, and are skilled at gathering information, balancing competing priorities and applying sound judgement to achieve positive outcomes within tight timeframes.

You are equally comfortable influencing senior stakeholders as you are coaching frontline leaders and mentoring colleagues. With a proactive, solutions-focused approach, you use data, insights and evidence-based practices to identify recovery barriers, improve processes and drive early intervention strategies that support both employees and the broader organisation.
