The Opportunity
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst you'll play a critical role in helping shape the long-term sustainability of Queensland's workers' compensation scheme. Partnering closely with the Scheme Actuary, you'll lead the actuarial modelling that underpins WorkCover Queensland's bi-annual outstanding claims valuations and provide trusted insights that support executive and Board-level decision making. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of actuarial excellence, financial stewardship and strategic influence.
You'll join a high-performing Actuarial and Insights team where your expertise will extend beyond valuation work into financial modelling, scheme projections, premium analysis and business improvement initiatives. Working with senior stakeholders both internally and externally, you'll tackle complex actuarial challenges, contribute to the evolution of reporting and analytical tools, and help drive evidence-based decisions that make a meaningful difference for Queensland workers and employers.
About You
You are a technically strong and commercially minded actuary who can confidently operate at a senior level, providing robust analysis, sound judgement and trusted advice. You enjoy solving complex problems, challenging assumptions and communicating insights that influence decision making across a broad stakeholder group.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
- Significant actuarial experience within workers' compensation, general insurance or a similar financial services environment.
- Deep expertise in outstanding claims valuation methodologies and actuarial modelling.
- Experience delivering high-quality actuarial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced data manipulation skills, including experience using SQL.
- Experience using R and/or Python, or the capability to quickly learn and apply these tools.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work alongside senior actuarial and executive stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to mentor and support the development of others.
