WorkCover Queensland is entering an exciting new chapter, guided by a renewed strategic focus and strong executive leadership shaping our 2030 Strategy. We’re embarking on an enterprise-wide transformation to strengthen our impact and continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.
The Opportunity
Join a high-performing actuarial team at a time of significant transformation. As an Actuarial Specialist, you'll play a key role in maintaining, enhancing and evolving the actuarial models that underpin WorkCover Queensland's outstanding claims provisions. Working closely with the actuarial team and external actuarial partners, you'll contribute to critical business insights that inform executive and board-level decision making.
This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional actuarial modelling and be involved in the evolution of new claims systems, changing data structures and modern reporting tools. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across Actuarial, Finance, Claims Management and Premium teams to develop meaningful insights, improve processes and support the delivery of high-quality actuarial reporting.
If you're looking for a role where you can continue progressing your actuarial career while working on complex, real-world actuarial challenges in a collaborative and supportive environment, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your expertise and make a genuine impact.
About You
You're an analytically curious actuarial professional who enjoys solving complex problems and continuously learning. You bring strong technical foundations in actuarial modelling and data analysis, along with the flexibility and agility to adapt to changing business needs, technologies and datasets.
You thrive in collaborative environments, value constructive feedback and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work within tight deadlines. Equally comfortable working autonomously or as part of a broader team, you're someone who builds strong relationships and contributes positively to team success.
To be successful, you'll ideally bring:
- Progress towards Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries (Part A completed or beyond)
- Experience in general insurance, workers' compensation or a similar insurance environment
- Strong actuarial modelling and analytical capability
- Experience working with large and evolving datasets
- Power BI and SQL skills, with R or Python highly regarded
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A collaborative, open-minded and adaptable approach
