The Opportunity
We’re looking for a passionate Senior Insights Analyst Legal and Actuarial to deliver actionable insights and high-quality analysis of WorkCover Queensland’s common law claims experience. This is a six-month contract role covering parental leave.
Working closely with the Head of Legal and the Legal team, this role generates meaningful insights and analysis to support organisational goals. The position is responsible for common law claim budgets, KPI monitoring, executive and board reporting, and supporting the biannual actuarial valuation.
The role:
- Contributes common law actuarial insights as part of the internal actuarial team.
- Partners with Legal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide timely analytical advice to support decision-making.
- Delivers regular reporting and insights to Legal stakeholders.
- Supports budgeting and financial reporting for the Legal function.
- Translates complex actuarial and analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborates with the Legal team to design and enhance reporting tools and dashboards.
- Mentors team members and provides technical guidance on common law across the organisation.
- Maintains governance and documentation for actuarial processes and common law modelling.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in data analytics, insights and reporting across enterprise-wide business activities and initiatives.
- A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, data science, applied finance or a related field.
- Actuarial qualifications and experience are highly desirable.
- Experience in workers’ compensation, financial services or general insurance.
- Proficiency in business intelligence and analytical tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, Qliksense Excel, SQL, Python or R.
- Demonstrated ability to advise, influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior and executive leaders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and a collaborative mindset.
