Join our People Services team as a Payroll Support Officer and make a meaningful impact by supporting the end-to-end payroll function, where you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our valued workforce.
You’ll collaborate with a team of experienced professionals to support our people, organisation, and transformational journey — all while living our values: delivering with heart, owning the outcome, unlocking what’s possible, and working best together.
What You’ll Do
In this hands-on support role, you’ll
- Manage daily payroll helpdesk emails, workflows, and general administrative duties.
- Process leave entries and respond to a wide range of payroll queries.
- Support onboarding by processing new employee data, changes, terminations, and bulk recruitment documentation.
- Assist with end of month payroll processes, reporting, and ad-hoc data requests.
- Maintain payroll system data and support remuneration reviews and Certified Agreement increases.
- Prepare remuneration calculations, payroll documentation, creditor payment requests, and reconciliations.
- Contribute to ABS reporting, internal/external payroll reporting, and maintenance of organisational establishment records.
- Support process improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
- Provide accurate, timely advice to employees and managers on payroll policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.

You thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys contributing to a collaborative and supportive team. You’ll bring strong attention to detail, a customer focused mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a payroll position, ideally in a large, high transaction volume organisation.
- Well-developed knowledge of payroll legislation, policies, and practices, including payroll processing, withholding tax and ATO requirements.
- High level understanding of industrial awards and certified agreements, and their practical application in payroll contexts.
- Experience using payroll systems (TechnologyOne highly regarded)
- A proactive approach to problem solving and improving processes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with key stakeholders.
