We are seeking a strategic and experienced finance leader to join us as Senior Manager Finance Operations. Reporting to the General Manager Finance and as a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, you will lead the Finance Operations function, driving robust processes, controls, and financial strategies that underpin our mission to be the best workers’ compensation insurer.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Finance Operations, including transaction processing, banking, reconciliations, ledger control, and month-end close.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee cash flow and treasury functions to maintain strong financial security and liquidity.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial systems, policies, and controls to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across the organisation to deliver BAU outcomes, continuous improvement, and transformation initiatives.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations as part of the Finance Leadership Team.

About You

You are a strategic and experienced finance leader with a proven track record in senior financial management within complex and regulated environments. You combine technical expertise, commercial insight, and strong leadership skills to drive robust financial operations, deliver high-quality outcomes, and support organisational objectives. You excel at mentoring teams, fostering collaboration, and translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Extensive experience in financial control, reporting, cash flow management, and compliance with legislation and accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and internal control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear recommendations.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, TechnologyOne) and advanced Excel or reconciliation tools.
  • Sound judgment in balancing operational priorities with compliance, risk management, and organisational objectives
  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications (highly regarded).
  • Full professional membership (or eligibility) with a recognised accounting body such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ.
