We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant who will be instrumental in upholding the integrity of our financial reporting and operational processes. This is a valuable opportunity to apply your technical expertise and collaborative approach within an organisation committed to the highest standards of excellence, while contributing to a dynamic, forward-thinking team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee general ledger operations, including journal entries and ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Lead the preparation of monthly and quarterly reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of items.
- Contribute to the financial statement preparation of WorkCover Queensland consolidated financial statements, and WorkCover Employing Office’s standalone financial statements
- Support statutory reporting by ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including liasing with external auditors, to meet compliance and reporting requirements.
- Drive continuous improvements in financial processes, internal controls, and reporting quality.
- Contribute to team goals by coaching and supporting colleagues and bringing a solutions-focused approach.
About You:
We’re looking for a finance professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. You will bring:
- CA/CPA qualification and tertiary qualifications in accounting (mandatory).
- 5+ years’ experience in financial or management accounting, ideally within chartered or corporate settings (insurance/financial services experience highly regarded).
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, auditing requirements, and reporting frameworks.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn finance systems (TechnologyOne experience desirable).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
- A proactive mindset, with proven ability to identify improvements and deliver high-quality outcomes under deadlines.
