About the Opportunity
We are seeking a driven Senior Governance Advisor to play a pivotal role in strengthening our governance and corporate secretariat functions at WorkCover Queensland. As a key member of the Risk and Assurance team, you will be responsible for supporting best practice governance processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legislative obligations, and facilitating high-quality Board and sub-committee operations and activities.
In this diverse role, you will provide exceptional administrative and strategic support to the Company Secretary and Head of Risk and Assurance, manage the coordination and quality assurance of Board documentation, and maintain critical governance frameworks. You will also contribute to the implementation of governance initiatives across the organisation, including policy oversight, insurance administration, and emergency and business continuity planning.
About You
This position is ideal for an experience governance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, has strong attention to detail, and is passionate about enhancing organisational effectiveness through sound governance practices. With a strong background in Board and executive support, you will also bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in a business-related field and professional membership (e.g. Governance Institute of Australia) are highly regarded.
- 5+ years’ experience supporting Boards and executives, with demonstrated expertise in governance, compliance, and assurance functions
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience communicating complex business and governance related issues for a range of audiences including experienced directors, executives, and Government officials
- Ability to liaise, consult and advise balancing best practice advice and practicality to achieve business outcome
- Proven ability to collate, analyse and present data
- Tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office and governance tools, with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Collaborative team player with a customer service focus and the ability to contribute to strategic and operational goals.
