WorkCover Queensland is entering an exciting new chapter, guided by a renewed strategic focus and strong executive leadership shaping our 2030 Strategy. We’re embarking on an enterprise-wide transformation to strengthen our impact and continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.
As part of this transformation, we are seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager to join our Employer Group.
The Opportunity
In this key role, you will bring your deep account management expertise, commercial acumen, and relationship capability to support employers and deliver strong outcomes. You’ll work closely with a diverse portfolio of stakeholders to influence claim and premium performance, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to improved outcomes for both employers and injured workers across Queensland.
If you’re someone with a natural ability to build high‑trust relationships, influence outcomes and drive meaningful change, this role offers a hands‑on opportunity to shape how WorkCover connects with and supports major workplaces across Queensland.
What You’ll Do
- Account manage a portfolio of employers and associated stakeholders, balancing customer needs with regulatory requirements and commercial considerations.
- Build and strengthen trusted partnerships with employers, industry groups, unions and employer associations to improve claim outcomes, reduce injury risk and support fund sustainability.
- Develop an in‑depth understanding of business drivers, industry needs, and portfolio dynamics to influence premium and claims outcomes.
- Lead engagement with high‑cost industries and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships that improve safety, recovery and return‑to‑work outcomes.
- Provide high‑level insights, advice and recommendations to senior leaders and executives on trends, risks, and opportunities across your portfolio.
- Collaborate across internal business areas to share knowledge, resolve customer and stakeholder issues, and uplift relationship‑management capability across the organisation.
- Lead and strengthen WorkCover’s strategic initiatives relating to injury‑risk reduction, working closely with OIR, WHSQ, IPaM and other regulatory partners.
- Provide technical advice, support and mentoring to uplift capability in account management and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead and support efforts to manage escalated complaints, analyse trends and identify opportunities for systemic improvement.
- Coordinate educational events, networking forums and employer‑focused engagement activities.
About You
You are someone who builds trust with ease, navigating complexity with commercial understanding and genuine care. As a confident communicator, you balance big‑picture thinking with practical solutions and bring people together through your natural ability to influence, engage and collaborate to drive meaningful performance improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- 5 + years experience in account or relationship management within insurance, financial services, government or similarly regulated sectors.
- An understanding of workers’ compensation, including statutory and common law claim processes, premium drivers and industry risks.
- Strong commercial and industry insight, with the ability to interpret business drivers, portfolio dynamics and the factors that shape claim and premium outcomes.
- High‑level communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to collaborate, negotiate and represent WorkCover confidently with unions, employer groups and industry bodies.
- Data literacy and analytical capability to turn complex information into meaningful insights for customers and senior leaders.
- Strategic planning skills, with the ability to design and deliver initiatives that improve customer experience, strengthen relationships and support injury‑prevention outcomes.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business or a related discipline.
