As part of this transformation, we're building a fresh, modern Capability function and introducing newly created roles that will redefine contemporary learning, coaching, and capability uplift across our Claims division.
We’re seeking an emerging people leader who’s ready to step into a role with real influence — someone who wants to shape the learning journey of our newest claims professionals and set them up for long‑term success.
This Claims Capability Team Leader role is a unique opportunity to hone your coaching and leadership capability while playing a hands‑on role in building strong holistic foundations, guiding new starters through their early development, and modelling what great claims management looks like. If you’re passionate about developing others, confident in your own practice, and excited to grow as a leader, this role offers the perfect platform to stretch, learn, and make a meaningful impact.
What You’ll Do
- Participate in relevant Claims Capability Development Leadership Team meetings, supporting business as usual outcomes and continuous improvement projects.
- Develop trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful delivery of business as usual outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Onboard a team of new starters in customer- facing roles, welcoming them to WQC and/or the team and providing an overview of their induction and onboarding experience.
- Enable team members to effectively participate in applicable formal learning programs, undertaking regular check-ins and providing support and feedback as required.
- Support team members to embed their learning by allocating suitable on the job activities.
- Collaborate with Claims Capability Trainers to provide technical guidance, advice and deskside coaching as required to enable team members to build required capability and deliver appropriate customer outcomes.
- Monitor completion of assigned activities, providing feedback and suggestions.
- Review files and decisions for accuracy, confirming appropriate customer outcomes and /or providing feedback on improvement opportunities.
- Provide formal attestations at the end of the onboarding journey, confirming that team members have the capability to transition to their permanent team.
- Support recruitment of new starters as required.
- Provide backfill support to the Claims Capability Lead as needed and contribute to BAU delivery, continuous improvement projects, and transformation initiatives
What We’re Looking For
You’re a supportive, confident mentor who thrives when helping others grow. You bring strong technical claims expertise, a calm and constructive coaching style, and a genuine commitment to building capability in a way that lifts both performance and confidence. You’re someone who leads by example — clear in your communication, consistent in your expectations, and motivated by seeing people progress. Most importantly, you’re ready to step into people leadership, eager to refine your coaching craft, and excited to contribute to a culture where learning, development, and best practice are front and centre.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven success in coaching, mentoring, and developing others to improve performance.
- Proven track record of delivering effective customer outcomes.
- Experience in a Claims Assessor or similar role mandatory.
