Join our dynamic Digital Engineering team as a Principal Software Engineer on 12-month maximum term contract and play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that directly impact the lives of Queensland workers. What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance software solutions across our digital transformation initiatives. 

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, fostering best practices in software engineering and architecture. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions aligned with our strategic objectives. 

  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, code quality, and system performance through modern engineering practices. 

  • Champion innovation by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies to enhance our service delivery capabilities. 

A bit about you: 

You’re an experienced technology leader with a passion for building secure, scalable, and innovative solutions. You combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills, enabling you to guide teams and deliver complex enterprise projects that make a real impact.  

You’ll bring: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT/ICT (desirable).  

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering delivering solutions across mobile and cloud platforms.  

  • At least 6 years designing and implementing software solutions in large organisations.  

  • Proven experience leading project teams through development, testing, and delivery of enterprise-scale solutions.  

  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering practices, including microservices and API architecture.  

  • Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS/Azure) and experience transitioning applications to cloud environments.  

  • Expertise in agile delivery methodologies and modern SDLC practices, with a focus on automation and CI/CD.  

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.  

  • A proactive approach to reducing technical debt, ensuring security by design, and driving innovation through proof-of-concepts.  

  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.  

  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies that enhance delivery capability.
